Enoshima Daishi was a big surprise here for at Enoshima island. Looking from a viewpoint I first noticed its dome. It looked quite big and new. Then I walked past it and noticed our familiar Nio statues guarding its entrance. My feet were already hurting from too many steps. I went inside and gave it a cursory look and then on I went to continue in my discoveries of Enoshima island. During one of my following days I sailed to Enoshima by ferry boat and enjoyed a more relaxing day from another side of the island.
This was when I entered the temple again and even sat down there. And this atmosphere of mystery with aromatic sticks incence smoke hovering in the air and the buddha in the center somehow overwhelmed me. I just sat there, a bit aside, watching several believers come in and kneeling down on a cushion to bow to the central Buddha image.
Enoshima Daishi temple was established here in 1993 by the Shingon Buddhist temple Saifukuji in Kagoshima.
And secondly – I was very much impressed by the temple building, it was quite big at the rear side and had interesting columns.
