FUJISAN

Majestic conical peak of  MOUNT  FUJI  rising 3,778 m is the tallest as well as the most famous mountain in Japan. The “National Mountain” is called Fujisan by the Japanese, which expresses their respect and love and that it is regarded as sacred.  It is in fact the most famous go-shintai of Japan. Go-shintai in Shinto religion is an object of worship believed to contain the spirit of a deity – kami. A mountain believed to house a kami is shintai-zan. And Mount Fuji is exactly such mountain. Every Japanese hopes to ascend their sacred mountain.  “It is as foolish not to climb Fujisan as to climb it twice in life” – don´t you find this saying brilliant? 😀

In pictures taken in Kamakura  the Enoshima island can be seen, too. I was happy to be able to admire Fujisan this time as during my previous visit I had no luck to see it despite of the fact that I was passing by quite close to her by Shinkansen. She was hiding behind clouds.
